Problem with email iv never seen before.
Hi,
Please can you help me with an email problem that I have never seen before.
I have signed up with btinternet surftime and have an email address with them.
I have tried to set up outlook express as I have done many times before, but this time I can only send out emails, I don’t seem to be able to receive any. I have tried all sorts of things to get it to receive but no luck at all. The funny thing is that the same happens in their web mail. I have contacted BT with this problem but they don’t seem to know why it might be happening. Any ideas as I, am out of my depth with this one.
Thank you, Regards. Robert.

Do you get any error messages in the Send/Recieve dialog?

hmmm...
This sounds like it might be as simple as the wrong mail server on the "incoming" configuration. What does your ISP suggest you use for the incoming and outgoing servers?
On my local ISP for example, the incoming server is mail.provider.com, where the outgoing server is smtp.provider.com (names changed to protect the quasi-innocent). Other ISP's may use the same server for both incoming and outgoing.
If this is not the case, please provide more details about the servers, and I'll look a little deeper!
Various Windows and Linux platforms...

This might be worth a try. My provider requires that in the "Account name " field of the "Servers" tab rather than just "myname" as is usual, I must use "[email protected]" the entire email address.
