Command Con In Win 3.11
I have Win 3.11 for work groups installed on
a 2nd hard drive on one of my computers. I
am trying to put 6 doshell files into command.com
and I cannot find the file system for Win 3.11
There is no control panel and it is not in "main"
or "accesories" How do I get into the windows
file system in Win 3.11. I also have DOS 6.1
on the computer. I want to get my Dosshell
working in DOS.
Thanks, Jerry

I want to get my Dosshell working in DOS.
If the command is there, all you should need to do is type dosshell. I can't remember if DOSSHELL.EXE was included with DOS 6.x. Seems it was discontinued as Windows File Manager was its successor. If so, you would have to obtain the DOSSHELL.EXE from another source such as DOS 5.0.

I believe the file is CONTROL.EXE. You should be able to add it with the File command and add the item. If the file is not there, you will have to expand it from the install disks.

COMMAND.COM is a file, not a directory. Normally, on a DOS system, you would put those files in the C:\DOS directory.
I would have to fire up my WIN3.11 machine to find out more. Hope this helps.

Ok 104456. So I "said" file manager and you show it! If this is what Jerry is looking for, and not DOSSHELL, I think the file he needs is WINFILE.EXE.
This page Minimum Sized Windows has some of the files for the Control panel listed.

No applogies necessary. That was meant tongue in cheek! We are giving him a variety to chose from.
