Do you know how to restart in safe mode and delete the file? What is the filename?

When you restart your computer, as you boot up, press F8 repeatedly. A menu will appear asking how you'd like to boot, and the top choice is Safe Mode, so you go ahead and press Enter. Once you're in Windows you can delete that file. It's important to know the filename and what folder it is located in before you do this.

Also, there is a reference somewhere that is causing it to load at startup in a normal boot situation. You need to find that reference and delete it, too. You can find the reference by running MSINFO32 (Start->Run->msinfo32) and going to the Software Environment-> Startup Programs. The filename will be listed there, and where it loads from.

    Question

I tried doing this last night and when I did it said device failure (Ithink) hit F1 or F2 I did this and did not get a choice of safe mode??
What about turning back the clock I know once and of course I can't remeber how to do it I (with the help of support, that I don't have now) turned back the clock on my computer and it took it back to the way it was?
    Thanks again for your help

Did you get this when you were tapping F8? Or when you typed in the run command msinfo32? msinfo32 will give you the system information and F8 will bring you to the boot selection as verlux mentioned. Try the F8 again, go to safe mode and try to delete that file.

Also run a virus scan in safe mode and delete any infected files that it finds. Keep in mind that some file being deleted may affect the operation of some applications and may need to be reinstalled.

PS: Don’t listen to people that have no interest but to insult or berate a post! Not mentioning any names…

Don't know about Tangz warez comments, but the one about typing in CAPS is very relevant.

It not only makes it harder to read but for Intenet ettiquette (sp) it implies that you are shouting at us.

No one likes to be shouted at.

What is it with individuals that bang other posts just because of the way that they’re worded, or the format, or the font, upper and or lower case. You know what I think? The ones that do this are so thinned skinned… well you know what I mean. This is a help forum not a bash forum. Grow up!

A search for shouting caps revealed these threads, I checked the first 6 and they all pretty much said the same thing in regards to being hard to read and shouting.

It's not individuals banging other posts, it's www nettiquette as they call it, you don't type in caps because it is considered shouting - it may even be mentioned in the forum rules, but I can't be bothered checking - maybe one of the moderators will step in with some nice calming words that will put everyone at peace.

I have always felt that Norton is a piece of [*-deleted word-*] Virus program.. You are one of dozens i hear throughout the month where Norton didn't help them, even with updates...

Nix, I looked into the posts, and I still have the opinion that the ones that complain of the type of font; upper or lower case, are thinned skinned! I, for myself don’t care if the post is upper or lower case. HELP OR DON’T HELP!!!

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY?
