offixe xp sp1 wont install

i went to the office update page and downloaded office xp sp1 and when i started to install it, it starts to install but eventually pops a message up that says

"Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT22.tmp. It has been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch."

Right after that the program program window popped up and said Microsoft Hotfix Installer encountered a problem. and it asks me to either send report or end now

how can i install office xp sp1?

Why is it that when I post this error into the search on Microsoft site it comes up with everything except what you want
Doing a Google seach finds it and links right back to Microsoft

Cant Micro$oft do anything right?

thats a different error close tho but winword.exe isnt causing the problem its config.msi\pt22.tmp

Sorry about that...guess I didn't read it close enough. How about trying to rename the pt22.tmp to pt22.old and then trying to update again?

hmmmm i cant find pt22.tmp
