Question A Windows explorer and a IE6 issue, strange goings on...

    Hi all,

Ive got a 2 simple problems, i wonder if you can help me with...its a Windows explorer and IE6 issue.

    Firstly,

    (I have XP Home)

When i explore 'my computer' the window pops up ok, but when i get to double click on say the 'c' (or any other resulting folder) drive, it launches the search facility!

If i right click on the 'C' drive the 'search...' option is top of the list, closely followed by the 'open' option underneath. I wonder how this happend??

    Secondly,

    (IE 6sp1)

When i use IE6 i have problems using the resore down button on each window. Instead of moving to a smaller window it hides somewhere, as if i have minimized it.

Therefore i can only restore a window to a full screen, rather than a window to my sizeing.

    Anyone have same experiences?

I just cant think where these settings are hiding!

Thanks again in advance, you all are an invaluable resource.

These 2 problems could be related as "My Computer" AKA Windows Explorer & IE are different front ends of the same core application.

If these are recent phenomena then I think this is a job for System Restore. Try rolling back to a point before this started happening.

Or you could get your XP CD handy and then go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes which will replace any missing or corrupt system files.

I solved the IE6 problem by scanning for spyware....

The windows explorer problem, i guess will remain a mystrery...
