What's that shortcut for 98 to ShutDown?
I'm wanting the directions for creating a shortcut on the desktop for shutting down Windows 98. I just gave my 3 year old daughter her first computer and she keeps turning off the computer wrong. I'd like to show her the shortcut on the desktop to click on when she wants to turn off the PC.
Thanks

I got this from another post that might help you:
Here's a little known secret I've been using for over a year and really works great. You can put a shutdown Icon on your desk top which you can double click and shutdown your computer without having to go through the 'start, shutdown, what do you want your computer to do,etc etc.' routine.
Right click on your desktop and from the popup menu select 'New' then 'Shortcut'
In the command line box type the following:
"rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows" sans quotation marks but include the space,it must be exact. Select 'Next',name the shortcut Shutdown (or whatever you like),select 'Finish' and from now on when you want to shutdown just doubleclick the icon and your done!No start menu to go through. Also if you like you can drag a copy of the icon to your task bar and one click does the job.
Hope this helps you!
I got this:
The Short Version (Win 9x)
The shortcut command line should be as follows:
For a shortcut to RESTART Windows:
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,exitwindowsexec
For a shortcut to SHUT DOWN Windows:
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE user,exitwindows
from here: http://aumha.org/win4/kbshtdwn.htm so you should be able to cut and paste the command line.

Good move Fuelman.
My son has been using our PC since just before his 2nd birthday (will be 4 this saturday coming).
Anyway, I have a shortcut on the task bar to shutdown and just from watching me he has learnt to do it himself.
Amazing how quickly kids learn - I was astounded at how quickly he took to the mouse etc.
Even checking the CDs for finger prints, stating "I might have put finger prints on there when I was a little baby".
Oh and I changed the icon for my shortcut to a little door (in one of the icon files somehere) so he knows that one means we are leaving the computer.

Thanks Cowboy622, those look like it.
Nix, My daughter been on the computer before she was 1 year old. My wife got tired of having her on hers.
I left Ariana (daughter's name) in a room with a PC, she has always liked the keyboard, she knows shortcuts to programs that haven't even been invented yet! When I came back in to check on her, she crawled on top of the desk and was jumping on the keyboard and just laughing. This was before she turned one.

Here is an icon to use, once you have the code to link to it...
