98 to 2000 to XP P/W problems
All firewalls disabled. Ok So Next:
From #1 2000pro I try to connect to the Laptop and get:
"Enter Network Password"
Incorrect Password or Username For:
\\Laptop
Connect as: laptop\administrator
Password: _____________
And it connects
#2 2000pro system is the some the same.
The 98 see's all and will connect to the XP no problem.
It will not connect to the #1 or 2 2000pro's, on both it gives a pop-up
"Enter Network Password"
You must supply password to make this connection:
Resource: \\Laptop\ipc$
Password: ______________
In 98 the Resource: is set and needs to be changed from \\Laptop\IPC$ to Laptop\administrator, the same needs to be done to connect to #2 2000. How is this done?
The XP still only sees one of the two 2000 and connects to all it can see. (the user id needs to be put in at first connect)

So, as I understand when a computer tries to gain access to shared resources on a computer running Windows 2000, they receive a prompt for a password?
If so, this can be caused if the Guest account is disabled by default. On the 2k machine, enable the Guest or create an identical account that matches the other machines that log onto Windows for security. The usernames and passwords must be identical. If it doesn't have a password then just supply the username.

The two 2000 will connect to one another one needs user name Sweet and a password the other just the user name "laptop"
So the 2000 systems are fine.
The 98 system asks for:
Enter Network Password"
You must supply password to make this connection:
Resource: \\Laptop\ipc$
Password: ______________
You must supply password to make this connection:
Resource: \\sweet\ipc$
Password: ______________
But the Resource needs to be changed from \ICP$ in 98 is there a way to do this?
The XP system only sees one of the two 2000 systems (sweet) and connects to it fine, with a user name & password, but the Laptop is not in the XP workgroup. (but the Laptop will connect to XP)
The Laptop is in all the other workgroups
This is confusing me!
