Question External Hard Drive storage limit?

Has anyone heard of or know about a 30GB limit per partition windows XP reads on external hard drives. USB or Firewire, any version. Make sense? A friend has a 120 GB external HD but claims XP will only read 30GB partitions.
    Solution -

    format c: <ENTER>

I've seen a bunch of problems past the 137GB barrier, but even partitioning can't fix that. Can you post more details?

Actually, XP can read partitions larger than 30GB. The limit is in creating FAT32 partitions. For that you need a partitioning program, or Win98's format program.
