These "POPULAR" Options Never Work..
Hello friends,
I hv tried these tweaks to increase the speed of cable modem . My success rates are nearly Zero...
1. Registry Tweaks of speedguide.net
2. checking for spywares using "Spybot Search And Destroy" or "Adaware 6.0"
(In Some cases they even delet some files and makes the matter worse "Page Cannot be displayed"
3. Doing An MSCONFIG ..
I would like to know from experts something which can work.. I think we are dependent 2 much on these spywares
Waiting for a response

You're not going to dramatically increase the speed of your connection. Your ISP has capped your speed from there end so there isn't anything you can do. Occasionally people will offer some long hack to do to your cable modem to try to uncap it, but they don't often work, they are easy to mess up and most importantly they are illegal.
The registry tweaks can help in certain circumstances but they rarely give more than a small improvement. The spyware fix does not increase your speed unless you had spyware installed. It only improves your computer's efficiency in processing data, it doesn't actually do anything to make your connection faster.

There are so many external factors that control the speed of an Internet connection, that any of these tweaks that you can do with the PC just pale into insignificance IMHO. I've tried a few tweaks with my DSL connection, and I've never found one that made the slightest difference in everyday use, so I just leave everything on the default settings these days and save myself the stress
If you really need more speed, then there are 3 things that will work that I know of:
1) Pay for a higher speed connection
2) Pay for a business service with a lower contention ratio
3) Choose the time of day & day of week when the network will be at it's quietest. I downloaded a Linux .iso image on a Sunday evening the other week, and it downloaded in a fraction of the time it would have done on a weekday.
Nick.

Those two programs are actually beneficial to use, they remove things which will slow you down. The files that Spybot will delete were giving you problems in the first place. As a matter of fact, this is the first complaint I have heard of their use and benefits, and they are free.
If you left something on that was recommended by either of these programs to delete, it is your computer and that was your choice to make.
