Dial-up adapter doesn't start automatically using Opera

The anaglog dial-up won't start when I start Opera. It will connect if I manually start the connection and IE starts it ok (of course).
I have the box "connect when no network connection is present" checked, but it still refuses to start.
I ran into this before and it was that check box I just memtioned. There is no other dial-up adapter installed. There is a NIC, but it is disabled since there is no network yet.

    I'm running 2k w/sp3

Is Opera set as your default browser?

I could get Opera to autodial with w2k sp2 but not sp3. Now I'm running XP Pro and it still won't autodial.

You've gotta realize that M$ does not like Opera.

One thing I've tried is a program called NetRun which can be set to automatically start whatever program/s you want whenever a connection is made. I've set it to start Opera. Not quite what we want but it's OK.

    That's 90% of the problem!

It's this 'Remote Access Auto Connection Manager' and the 'Remote Access Connection Manager' under Services where the problem lies. I did find through another thread that Opera does have a entry on this. BTW, Mozilla was the same way, it's not just a Opera issue!

Looks like it can't be done, and Opera is at fault in my opinion.

    Wrong on both!

Opera's NOT at fault and it can be done because I just did it!

BTW, it's a problem with Mozilla also!

Sounds like you are a M$ fan! Better take a look here:

videobruce, what OS and SP are you running? And what version of Opera?

I've enabled both the "remote access" services and "telephony" but no luck here with XP PRO and Opera 7.01

    Edit: Oops, I see you're using w2k sp3.

I'm pretty new to opera and im having trouble logging onto the website, I log out immediately after posting even when I have the 'accept all cookies' option turned on, what is going on?

Its not just with this forum its with others, although with other forums I can post when having 'accept all cookies' option selected its just when I'm manually selecting cookies that I have problems on other forums I have tried.

This is probably an easy question to answer, I wouldnt mind finding out whats going on as this is wicked browser otherwise.

This is version 7.01 and i'm posting this using IE6.

    I'm using V6.05 of Opera
V7.1 is now out. I will have to examine that especially after reading this thread:

For Opera questions here is the forum:

I noticed I had to manually start the dialer at least once and check off what needed to be. After that, Opera started the dialer as long as I had a web page requested (as opposed to starting with no pages or a blank page). Again, Mozilla was the same way (I assume Netscape would be too since it is based on Mozilla or vice versa)
