Yep! just put the files on. No registry entries, no entries in the ini files.
I thought I read about using it for Pentium 4 on this site. But I couldn't find the thread.
Already put the zipped files on a CDRW, booted the computer, with no hard drive, unzipping the files to a 400mb RAMDISK, and fired away. Only need 65mb of space for Windows 95. That's before cutting unnecessary files and adding programs. Next step is to find a program to remove TSR's from memory. If loading from a CDROM or external ZIP drive, I need DOS mode driver loaded. I would like to be able to unload them before starting Windows so Windows can control the devices. I'll have to post that in the DOS forum.

Has anyone tried opening the file (Amdk6upd.exe) with winzip or pkunzip, I think that's how i got the files out of the exe file.
It has been a couple of years since I have messed with windows 95 a or b
do you know what the newbie's solution to all problems is? Format and reinstall

Hey, you are right. I tried with PKZIP DOS utilities and no luck. But I just tried with WINZIP 8.1 and it shows the files. I extracted them as well.
Nothing like teamwork. So for all those who have AMD 350mhz and above or P4 that won't work with Windows 95, you can extract the files and install them at DOS. It's took all this time for that secret to come out.
P.S. Why aren't you in school? Or maybe you are using the school computer for this exploration knowledge? And what's that 85 on you handle? Couldn't be the fruit of my loins.

for example, the internet connection server, your network, THE AMD UPDATE PATCH, your cable box, your tyan 3 (USB Keyboard), should I going or do you got the point, the list is limitless

Mike3d, I tried disabling the L2 Cache and still got the IOS error. Maybe your method works on AMD processors and other slower processors.

ecrosson, I have Windows 98 on the machine. But there are certain things that Windows 95 can do that Windows 98 and later cannot, such as use RAMDRIVES. I am not inclined to get a new operating system everytime Microsoft wants more money. Many of us cannot afford to buy all new programs each year to "keep up with the Jones".
The equipment I run and programs I use do not need 98, 2000 or XP. My USB printer is about the only thing that I need 98 for. Maybe with the USB supplement, that would work with Windows 95 as well. But when my other computer died, I bought a faster computer. Actually, you don't have much other choices. With the help I got here and experimentation, I was able to get 95 to work on this computer. I find it boots faster and has fewer glitches than 98. I don't know why. It just does.
As I mentioned, I use a large RAMDISK, 400mb. I edited a WAV file with my Creative Wave Studio. When I set the temporary files to be on the RAMDISK, I was able to edit the same file in 1/3 the time it took swapping to the hard drive. Maybe Windows XP uses this memory. But Windows 9.x swaps to the hard drive no matter how much RAM I have. I can force it to swap to the RAMDISK instead. That makes more use of the RAM.
