Arrow Windows Server 2003 Release Date Set

Microsoft has set the official launch date of Windows Server 2003 to April 24, 2003. The operating system product family, which was recently renamed from Windows .NET Server 2003, will launch in San Francisco alongside Visual Studio 2003, the company says.

"Microsoft will unveil [Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio 2003] and demonstrate how customers can quickly build, deploy and manage a complete server solution for connected platforms," Bob O'Brien, Windows Server Group Product Manager told me Thursday.

My company is a longstanding member of the Microsoft Developers Network and we have recieved no info regarding a release entitled "2003". It could be a border thing, or maybe I've been asleep...down here in North Cackalaky we've been known to say " 'Cain't be right if'n it ain't doin' it thatta way!"
If you know something I don't, please send me a link.
    Regards & Happy New Year-kev

    RapMaster-
You're great...but a release candidate by any other name...smells like dot net,...and that's all it is, a release candidate......

Please argue, because I have nothing to do this evening (morning)-kev

They are changing the name from .NET to Server 2003. Hope all you guys who say you are getting it are getting it for your company, because an individual, unless wealthy cannot afford them. Heck, even Visual Studio .NET Pro cost over $1,100.00 by itself. And the enterprise and other versions cost even more.

Windows .NET Server 2003 Has a New Name
    Posted: January 9, 2003

Windows Server 2003 is on-track for worldwide launch in April 2003. Only the name has changed—not the functionality of the product, nor its deep integration of .NET technology.

As support for Web services is integrated into our entire product line, Microsoft is moving toward a consistent naming and branding strategy. This will make it easier for our partners to affiliate with this strategy, and for our customers to identify .NET-enabled products.

Windows Server 2003 will carry the ".NET Connected" logo, indicating its ability to easily and consistently connect disparate information, systems, and devices, thereby enabling customers to meet their specific business needs (regardless of their system's underlying platform or programming language). To help customers identify solutions and products that support standards-based interoperability, this logo is also available to our partners who are building solutions on the Microsoft platform. See www.microsoft.com/net/logo for more information.
