right click @ start menu?

i got a new machine for my wife last week and havent spent much time on it, but playing around on it tonite and tried to right click on my computer in start menu to open properties, and it would not open the window, matter of fact, just flashed. right click works on desktop and everywhere else, just not in start menu or show all programs. any ideas?? ive already checked mouse properties nothing out of the ordinary there, drivers are up to date. im stumped. thanks

I would try right clicking over My Computer on the Desktop and not Start Menu. It is likely the My Computer icon on the Start Menu is just a shortcut.

ill give it a try, but the machine in question is set up like mine, as in start menu properties, customize, advanced, with what i want icons and links i want shown "dotted". my comp shown as a link. could it be the oem version of xp??
