    Question VPN IP Address Assignment

I use the Windows 2000 built in VPN for my network.

In the Client options it can be set to specify it's own IP Address, how do i configure the Server to allow the Clients to use there own pre-selected Addresses?

Currently the Server assign's the IP Addresses from a static Pool of addresses, i have listed.

    Thanx

    CM.

    Hi CM,

The user's properties in Active Directory has a Dial-In tab where you can specify to "assign a static IP address". I presume this is the thing you've already found.

Now have a look at the Profile of your Remote Access Policy - IP tab.
There's a radio button there for "Client may request an IP address".

Let me know if this works (as I've not used it myself)!

    Best wishes,

    Andrew

    Hi!

Also, in the properties of the VPN connection at the client computer, you can get at the TCP/IP Properties from the Networking tab and there specify a manual IP address.
I suspect though that this won't be permitted unless the RAS profile says that clients may request an IP. From the help file: "by default, the remote access server automatically allocates an IP address and the client is NOT ALLOWED to request a specific IP address".

    Best wishes,

    Andrew
