Sygate - Zone Alarm conflict?
I am still wrestling with my LAN. I have discovered that ZA is blocking access to the internet by the client computers using Sygate proxy server. When ZA is off, all is fine. I have worked through the troubleshooter and set up all (?) the necessary permissions in ZA but no joy. Is this a recognised problem? Have I overlooked something stupid? Should I simply change to Sygate firewall? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The free version of Zone Alarm doesn't support NAT (Internet sharing). You either need to buy Zone Alarm Pro, or uninstall Zone Alarm and try the free Kerio Personal Firewall instead. Kerio has an "Is running on Internet gateway" option in its Advanced settings. If you want to use the Sygate firewall, again you'd have to buy the Pro version.

Thankyou for your suggestion. I have uninstalled (most of) Zone Alarm and now have Kerio in place and so far so good...certainly allows everyone access to the everything they want on the net. Should I load it on all the computers in the LAN or just the server?

It should be on all of them. Only the machine with the Sygate server should have the Internet gateway option checked though.
