Recently I picked up an old AT&T StarLAN Smarthub (10BaseT Ethernet)at a computer shop that sells used gear. It's an 84 port hub with 7 swappable 12 port modules. I would like to see if I can use this thing for a small network.

I can get in to the first 12 port module, and am running a DSL LAN across it, but it looks like the other 6 modules are not accessible (ie. red light status). I presume this is because they are somehow password protected (because all the self diagnostics indicate green) . Does anyone have any idea how the password functions can be disabled.

I've checked the web and found that this model is no longer supported by AT&T / Lucent. I presume that the "smart" portion of this hub was originally intended for remote administration of the device. I don't really need to do that. I'm really just using it as a passive hub. However, I would be interested in seeing what this thing is capable of doing but I don't have any documentation. (What can you expect for $25). It's a pretty robust industrialized unit (dual cpu's and redundant power supplies...looks like a tank!).
