Free Me
If you have ever had your browser hijacked by those lousy sites with perpetual pop ups then this is for you! Free Me. Ive got it my links bar - one click and its all over - sure it closes your browser down but at least you dont have to reboot your PC lol. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

Hi there AnnMarie
Thanx for the link...I'm sure it'll prove very useful!
The only thing would be the closure of the borwser itself...in this case wouldn't a proggy like Pop-Up Killer be more apt? This way you get rid of the offending pop-ups while leaving other browser windows open!
I'll download FREE ME and give it a shot anyhow!
Cheers,
Mo

Hi goldust - i tried one of those programs - PopUp Stopper (I think) but it interfered with one of the sites that I frequented at the time. If I didnt allow the popup - I couldnt access the site. If I remember correctly, I had to hold the shift key down while downloading. I found it was a nuisance so I ended up uninstalling it. I dont have that many problems with these pests now but have it just in case. Have a great Christmas and all the best for the New Year too.

Hi there AnnMarie
I haven't used Popup Stopper, but I have used Pop-up Killer and it works a treat! I think they are different as I don't need to hold the shift key or anything!
I like the premise of FREE ME though! Good proggy nontheless
Have a great Xmas and New Year Ann and I'll see you around on here (I'm sure we keep bumping into each other in the threads!!! ).

Or use Opera 6 which has a preferences setting to stop pop-ups within the browser without needing another app!

Another good program to eliminate pop up and those pesky adds is naviscope. just go to www.naviscope.com and download. They do ask for an email addy but I have had it for over a year and have yet to recieve anything from them other than a notice of when an updated version is available. The best of all is its free.
