    Nero-50 Minute Barrier?

Installed TDK 24x10x40x burner yesterday. Using Nero 5.5.. trying to burn downloaded movies. It burns some fine but others, over fifty miutes, it stops checking and does nothing. Using TDK 80 minute, 700MB, 24X CDR's. Yellow line set at 74 miutes and red line at 80 minutes.

What default setting do I have to change to get this thing to burn more than 50 minute video files?

    ABIT BE-6
    PIII 550
    Win ME
    512MB SDRAM 133 ECC

Hope this is an easy one!

    Ron

Switch from test and write to just write. It sounds like your problem is with the test. I think most people quit testing after a while if they are getting good burns. Sometimes it seems there is little relationship between a good test and a good burn anyway.

Thanks for answering Slipe. I just opened Nero 5.5.5.1, looked everywhere I could think of and did not find an option to enable or disable "test".

    Would you provide further guidance?

When you get to the point of starting a burn you have three choices:
    Test (no actual burning)
    Test and Burn
    Burn

    Select “Burn”

Go here and download the quick start manual if you have no documentation for the program: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm

Downloaded and printed out the manual last night. Will go over it again. In practice so far, when not using the wizard, the final click is on "write". Using the wizard, the final click is on "burn" with no other choices (as I remember). Will go through it again and see what happens.

    Much thanks.

When you say "it stops checking" are you referring to the process that occurs when you drag video files into the left-hand layout window? (a window appears titled 'Adding files' that shows a progress bar as it verifies that the video can be used on a VCD). Does that progress bar just 'hang'?

The test option isn't available on all burners, so it may be greyed-out in some configurations, and in some burning situations. I agree with the position that Test isn't really helpful anymore. Blanks aren't $5.00 anymore (thankfully).
