    Internet Explorer

    Hello,

Could someone please tell me how to change my default settings in internet explorer v5.0 so that the frame/browser margins are minimised.

In netscape navigator my page is fine, but in explorer there's scrolling everywhere. I've tried marginheight=0,width, etc in the html code but it's not making a difference.

    Many thanks

    Paul

I may be misunderstanding your question but have you tried opening View and choosing Full Screen? If this is what you are looking for, to restore click on restore, it is beside that X in top right hand corner.

Thanks for the reply Garr but......

It's actually the 'margin size' in each frame i would like to minimize.

For example, if i have a frame split 'colspan="200,*"' and i place an image of 190 pixels width in the first frame using all the available 'frameborder=0' tags and margin width,height=0' tags in Netscape it does not scroll but in explorer it scrolls very badly. i have read a book where the author said that no matter how careful you were you could never guarantee to have no scrolling (unless scrolling=no!) as some people will have their default browser margins set to a large number of pixels. This is the setting i would like to change.

I hope this is a little clearer and that this setting exists!

    Many thanks

IE reserves space at right for the vertical scrollbar, even if the scrollbar is not currently visible. This means you either have to make the frame larger (although a user may have unusually thick scrollbars), or set the frame for no scrolling.
