    Boot Disk problem

I have a problem with boot disks:

I have an old 486, that has a 3 1/4 and 5 1/2 drives, that connect to a controller card. Now everything seems to work fine, and the 3 1/4 disc drive reads fine (I assume). however when i get too the 2nd screen (which shows the pcs information) the boot disc continues to load as normal from the 3 1/4, and then will all of a sudden stop (Light goes off). this happens with every boot disc i have tried.

No error messages come up either.

    Thanks.

    Hi Fizzgig,

The first thing that comes to mind on this is to look in the BIOS and see if the floppy drives are defined properly. You likely have the A drive installed as the 3 1/2 and the B drive as the 5 1/4.

You may also have a BIOS setting where you can change it to boot from C: A: or A: C: when it boots. (It may help if you could say a little as to precisley what you are desiring to do...)

    Cheers!
