can't get rid of it

made a temp dir. for downloads. put a file in it. the file was bad. ie. didnt work'. deleted said file. file gone ecxept the name in the directory. got to delete name says can't find file. happened with adirectory name also. can't del can't rename, nothing please help. thanks

Hi Wildee...
I take it your trying to delete it through Windows?..in File Manager?
If so...I guess you highlighted the file's name and then chose file/delete...and the name of the file never went away...right?
That's weird...One suggestion I have is to go into DOS and to the c:\temp directory then type: DEL *.* then press enter.

Try:
DELTREE C:\TEMP
Hopefully it will get rid of it. I have had them with messedup filenames that I could not get rid of without formatting.
I would run scandisk and see it the system can ix the file so it can be deleted.
