himem control
Trying to format and install windows on an older computer. After formatting and installing dos 6.2, I then reboot computer and recieve a message stating that himem not found, unable to control a20 line. Himem.sys is listed on drive directory and don't see anything suspicious when viewing config.sys in edit mode.
Any help would be appreciated.
System is a 486/33 8M ram 121 hdd
Ram chips are new and drive came from older computer that was working before being removed.

The problem with controlling the A20 line may come from a missing or incorrect /machine:type parameter for HIMEM.SYS. For most computers, HIMEM finds by itself the method needed to control the A20 line and no switch in necessary, but for a few this switch in mandatory. Type HELP HIMEM at the DOS prompt to see the available type values.

Some of the older machines allow you to handle this through BIOS configuration. Check your BIOS setup to see if there is a disable/enable function for this.
