    a little question

I have installed a second hard drive? The first as master, has Windows XP with Fat 32, the second is just a storage disk, but due to its size, 80 Go, it is formatted in NTFS mode. I can't format the first drive in NTFS mode because I will have to use Windows 98 to finish making a video composition with an old capture card and the maker will not update the driver. The system has got very slow since the installation. Is it a question of compatibility beween the two fat modes or something else. How do you connect the two drives to the motherboard, when you have a DVD disc and a CD recorder ?
    Thanks all.

connecting the drives is no problem - you just slave the hard drives together, and then the two cd-roms together. however, you're going to have problems with those formatting types. since your main drive is formatted as fat32, i don't think it'll be able to see the NTFS drive. you'd need your main OS to be formatted as NTFS (xp for example), then put win98 on the other drive as a secondary OS, and format that as fat32. then, xp will be able to see both drives, and win98 will still be around if you need it...

Actually, there is nothing wrong with how you have that set up. Drives don't have to "see" each other. Only the operating system needs to see the partiton types. It's true that Windows 98 won't your new drive, but as long as you have Windows XP installed, you will be able to view an NTFS drive, no matter what file system XP is installed on.

thanks for the correction :-) I've worked almost exclusively with fat32 systems until the last 8 months or so, and i'm still figuring out XP.

Sorry for the faulty info, Andre...
