Compact Flash Card Reader
I have a Simple Technology Compact Flash Card Reader Type II. It causes BSOD no matter what driver I loaded 95,98,ME,NT or 2000. I called Simple Tech, rep. said new drivers for XP would be released in about 2wks. Its been 4wks now. I e-mailed Simple Tech, response today 12-11-01, product made before XP was released and no driver or support will be available. Yes an $80 boat anchor. I'll have to purchase another, I checked and found another SanDisk, yes with XP support. Just blowing steam with Simple Tech.

Hi bugspop1,
Frustrating, indeed. I bought a similar such device for my SmartMedia cards. Even though I downloaded the latest drivers for Win2K from their web site, it would not work. The support staff was stymied. So, I gave up with it in Win2K. To my happy surprise, after I had installed XP on here, I plugged that device in (USB) just to see. Imagine my happy surprise when XP identified it, installed some files for it with no intervention from me, and it works great!

I'm hoping that somewhere down the road Microsoft might have an updated driver that will work. I don't have much faith in the manufactuer. But for now, I need to purchase another so I can take a few more photos. Thanks for the reply, it's just frustrating. Finally after my 4th install of XP everything is great but the compact flash card reader.
