BlackICE Defender V2.9.cai Firewall on XP?
Hi, i usualy run BlackICE Defender without any issues on Win98 or 2000 and have been waiting for the XP update.....
They have finally released v2.9.cai which claims to "WORK ON XP"... http://www.networkice.com/
However i have tried it on my AMD and it made XP lockup and show the "Windows has been shutdown, if this is the 1st time...." the only option is to press the reset button and run scandisk... this happened twice so i tried it on my other PC and had the same LockUp...
I find it unbelievable that this update has been released from a majorish company without prior testing!
Other than those caused by BlackICE, XP has NEVER lockedUp before... however i have read that unstable programs on XP wont lockup the OS... yeah right! makes me afriad to try any more programs on it incase scandisk screews up my files!
Any1 else tried BlackICE on XP? do u get these probs?
Regards

Just my opinions from past experience...and guessing. Post back to let others know if our ideas worked!
With a good backup program u can UNDO (almost) all your mistakes & bad installs etc in Windows!

That would do it, although if xp was half stable at all, it shouldn't have crashed, it should have gave an error that blackice failed to start. Thats what my nt 4 server did when i ran sygate and blackice.
cheers

sweet, so far blackICE seems to be OK with the standard XP firewall disabled, pity really would be nice to use both...
i've also just tried the new version 2.6.357 of the free Zone Alarm and that so far seems OK with the standard XP firewall running , i'll have to test for a bit and see how it goes...
Thanx & Regards
