Logon Scripts & replication of them.

what I am trying to do is this.....

several of our BDC's (NT4) have their own set of logon scripts.
Can I set up the server to import the PDC scripts as well as the local scripts.
If so how, If not is their an easier way than having all scripts on all machines.

    thoughts and comments please.

This is an intriguing question. My understanding is that the login script is distributed by the PDC to all BDCs as login can be authenticated by any domain controller. It is therefore important to have a current copy of the login script on all domain controllers.

My understanding of your question is that you have different login scripts on different domain controllers. This must mean that you enforce authentication by certain BDCs for certain people or groups.

Perhaps you could give further detail as I may be misunderstanding you.

    OK,

Our WAN is made up a=of 10 regional LAN,s. Each LAN has its own BDC. Each LAN has its own requirements for drive mapping and software updates.

Having monitored the authentication over a couple of days it appears that I will have to have all scripts on all BDC's.

I was looking into the directory replication to try and get one less service running, and less network traffic.

To this end I am going to use batch files to copy logon scripts - I prefer to know when and why things happen.

    Thanks for reading.
