NT setup doesn't detect scsi hd

I have just got a gateway server 7400. It has 2 scsi IBM DDYS-T09170M S94N (9.1) gb hard disks attached to a 53c1010-33 scsi host adaptor. I am installing nt 4.0 server. At first, i booted from the nt cd but setup could not continue because it failed to see any hard disk on the system. I stopped and booted to C: prompt then fired a winnt after browsing through the nt dist cd. setup successfully finished to dos portion, but after rebooting, it comes to the same point...can not continue because it hasn't found any hard disk..the disk am installing the nt has 2 partition..partition #1 fat, 2gb. and partition #2 is yet unformated.am putting ntfs..can anybody help?

If you have a driver diskette for the SCSI adapter then you need to use it during setup when you are prompted to specify any additional devices. It may be that your SCSI card is not on the NT HAL. (Remember NT4 was launched in 1996).

You can also make an installation diskette from the Gateway Restoration CD.

During Boot up you need to interupt the normal setup process. After your see the bios run its memory test than you should see SCSI bios get loaded. Right after that start tapping F6 (It may be F8 or anothe F key depending on the manufacturer) until you see the OS loader screen start. The first blue screen that you see will not be the normal setup window. It will give you the opportunity to install the scsi controller at this point. If for some reason you don't get this different screen then you either missed you time frame to hit F6 (it is a very short slot) or you it is one of the other F keys. Either way, power down and try again. It may get a little frustrating but you will get it eventually.
