    Trouble Installing NT4.0

I am installing NT4.0 Server from the floppy disks (which i created from the CD). However, after I've inserted Disk #3 and it's gone thru it's process (found the SCSI Adapter, loads more device drivers), I get the message
"Setup is unable to locate the hard drive partition prepared by the MS-DOS portion of Setup.

When you run the MS-DOS Windows NT Setup program, you must specify a temporary drive that is supported by NT. See your system guide.

    Setup cannot continue."

I've tried deleting partitions and creating partitions (prior to running Setup), all to no avail. This message comes up every time. Yet I'm never given the opportunity during Setup to format or partition the disk. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Possibles:

    1. How did you create the original partitions? If using fdisk, they would be FAT32 if large disk support was enabled. If so, delete the partition(s), then run installation again.

    2. How were the 3 installation disks made? If using winnt /o (or winnt32 /o) this can cause problems. Make 3 new installation disks using winnt /ox and start again.

    3. Did you try installing NT without using the installation disks? winnt /b will do it.

    flikserv,

thanks for the suggestions. i remade my 3 floppies using the /ox switch and the install made it past my trouble point and seems to be progressing well.
