    Installing NT workstation

When nt wants me to specify any more hardware like cd-roms, scsi cards... i select my scsi card (2640 U2W)it shows up and installs the drivers but I can't get my Plextor 40x to come up. it works fine because I'm doing a dual boot between 98 and it works in 98 fine

with some scsi cards you have to specify them first before nt starts searching. to do this, you have to press f6 while it's starting up (as soon as the blue screen starts). and then it will say to specify another card. once you specify it, then it will search for the other devices. this should do the trick. hope this helps.

Ah, I beleive you don't need and won't see any option for your plextor drive. I also have one, but I have NEVER installed drivers for it during an install. It runs off the SCSI card and the drivers that come with it. If your SCSI card is functioning and recognized, then you have the drive available.

Note, I have not been able to get my plextor recognized during a new install, only after the install has been completed. Good thing I have an atapi CDRW.

Have you tried running your NT install from within WIN98. This effective eliminates the need for the cdrom drive since all the startup/install files are copied to the harddrive. Try it.
