    New Device (Port)

    Can someone help in regards to adding a second parallel port to a NT Server. I enabled pnpisa but it was not found. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. General information on adding new hardware is what I need.

    Haven't actually done this in awhile, since I use HP JetDirect just about everywhere these days, but....

    Using %SystemRoot%\system32\winmsd.exe find out if an IRQ supported by your 2nd parallel port is available. Usually IRQ 5 is reserved for this purpose. Do the same with the I/O address, usually 0x3f8 or 0x3bc (I think). If your 2nd parallel port requires DMA channel so the same thing here too.

    Install the card, and boot NT normally. It should show up in winmsd.exe that the IRQ is in use.
