New Ad-Aware build including new Reflist
"A new build from Adaware has been released: v5.71 Build 2899
Available for download here:
www.majorgeek.com/index2.html "
It includes the very latest Reflist Nr. 105 dated 11-04-2002 .
You can just install it on top of the existing version.
Cheers, Tony

Kleinkramer--Thanks for the heads up. But I have a couple of comments.
1) The FAQ's on Lavasoft's site say
"Q: Do I need to uninstall previous versions before installing an updated version?
A: Yes please uninstall all previous versions before installing an update." So maybe installing the newest, newest AA v5.71 over the four day old newest is not a good idea?
2) There is no way of knowing what the difference in the latest AA build is. Maybe there is no difference other than the reflist? In that case, the latest reflist can indeed be installed over the old.

- I agree, Jim - maybe just to have current reflist for new users?
- Again, I agree <although I tried both ways (new reflist on old and new version builds) with no hits either way>
BUT, I uninstalled the first adaware version build before installing the latest. <Of course the why for this is no news to you, Jim>

Thanks for the heads-up Tony
I d/l latest build and it found nothing.
One question...why can't the "whole program" be up-dated with just the "LavaSoft Refupdate" tool?....(not just the ref file update).

This is not a new version, but a new build, and as far as I know it can be installed on top of the existing version.
And if there's a new build, this doesn't mean just the reflist: it really does mean the code of the program itself has been recompiled, although it may just have been a tiny change.

Additionally, DAP has been removed from the reflist, because it turned out to be impossible to target the freeware version only.

Tony's post indicating build # 2.899 and reflist 105-11.04.2002 is the most recent. The reflist seems only to come by getting the new AdAware version. Some mirror sites are not offering the newest version yet - but you cannot really tell until you have installed and opened the program. The download size for the 2.899 build version is 867KB. That is the only telling sign.

Hey KLR homey - miserable day, eh?...
Welcome to the forum, Ken.
Can get the stand-alone sig file HERE or via the RefUdate 1.3 utility <for use with earlier builds>.

To understand fully what LavaSoft/Ad-Aware are doing about Download Accelerator, you should read http://www.lavasoft.de/cgi-bin/forum...t=ST;f=20;t=15
And for a little more info on the latest "build" (2899) of AA v5.71, read here http://www.lavasoft.de/cgi-bin/forum...t=ST;f=2;t=314
