Question on installing new modem. HP

Before installing a new modem and running the set up disk (first). And removing old modem ...Should I remove old modem sofware from CP\ Add/Remove. or device mgr. or leave as is?
And if from Control Panel\Add/Remove , do I remove both:
    Rockwell HCF 56K modem (and)
    Conexant HCF PCI modem.
Or is ther another procedure? (HP Pavilion)
My first time exchanging modems. Installing a US Robotics. Thanks very much.

    Hi Carson,
I just did a search at HP's site (I used HP 8655c to search with) and came up with this page on How to Change a Modem Card (it's got pictures and all, and also mentions if you have a modem/sound card).
    http://www.hp.com/cposupport/persona.../bph06550.html

    I hope this helps.
    Sincerely, Nancee

Thanks Nanceel0...(the link seem to indicate the device mgr. method would work. But didnt mention if you are using a different brand.) The USR came with good easy instructions but seems to indicate that 'all' evidences of old moden should be removed. That's why I thought maybe the Add/ Remove. Removing in the "Device Mgr."? Does it remove from the Add\Remove also?
And I have both the Rockwell and Conexant listed in Add\Remove. That's would seem I need to remove both maybe?
In Device Mgr. I have a Modem+ (Rockwell)
and HCF Modem+ (Conexant PCI Modem Enumerator)> Should they bot be deleted? And from Device Mgr. or Add\Remove?
Thought this was going to be easy.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Carson,
I'm sorry, but I really don't know. I hope someone will come along soon that can guide you.
This might be a good post on the Hardware Forum also.
    Good luck.
    Sincerely, Nancee

Nanceel0, Thank you. You did help.
After thinking a minute I used your link and got to the support for my Pav. 4440 and found that my modem has on board sound and other riptide controllers. I opened the case and found two hookups connected to the modem. Then looking at the US Robotics replacement I found it did not have these. I guess HP wants me to buy a replacement from them. Not going to happen. I've suffered through this HP stuff long enough. Never again. Going to a custom build shop tomorrow and have one built that might just work w/o all the inconsistencies associated with this model of HP. And it's time to update from this three year old system anyway.
So thanks again for your help. It led to my solution
