    Port Lisings

Anyone have any links that give definitions for each port number. for example, 25 is SMTP and 20 is FTP...

    Thanks

the default port for ftp is 21, actually.

do a search on the web for "common port assignments" and see what you come up with...

keep in mind that anything beyond 1023 is dynamic (first come, first serve).

You're both right-- port 21 is to establish the connection, port 20 is for the ftp data.

The files called c:\windows\protocol. and c:\windows\services. might interest you.
