What just happened?? IExplore.exe error while changing browsers? and SCANDISK ERROR
Hi,
Hopefully this is nothing, just odd. I was responding to a post here (which I couldn't do) and tried to change browsers to get an address. Instead of getting my AOL browser (I may have clicked on the "E" in my toolbar), I got a box:
"IExplore.exe
Setup has detected that you are running a version of Windows that already includes the updated files or enhancements you are trying to install"
I clicked on details and got my cursor as an hourglass, so I clicked on cancel without a problem.
I then got on my AOL browser and came back and finished my post. When I clicked on submit response - something came up about my name, etc.--but that was already at the top. I refreshed and then exited the page. Also, I had the little box with red x at the top instead of the advertisement. I got offline and restarted my computer and it seems okay.
Now, the only things I did prior to this was I brought up MSDos prompt and typed in netstat -an | find ":6667" and another one for ":113 ". (from Steve Gibson's site)
BUT, yesterday I did a standard scandisk and it found two errors:
Scandisk found an error on C
C:\Program Files\Windows Updates folder contains incorrect information about FFCF4A70c08F28D90lAA....inv.
{it also found the same error on same path 7AAF39004C38....bm.}
This folders last modified date or time is invalid or in is the future. This may be because you pc clock is set incorrectly. SD repairs future dates by changing them to your pc's current date setting. SD repairs out of range dates or times by changing them to the nearest setting within the valid range"
I called Tech support and he told me to let it fix these errors so I did.
I also checked those files and saw for both files the created date was Jan.12, 2002 and modified date was Jan. 8, 2002.
I have no idea how something can be modified before it was created so I figured that was the error, but I just checked on of those files again and it has the same date.
This may not mean anything but I'm mentioning it because of that IExplore error saying something about UPDATED FILES.
Can anybody shed any light on this?
Thanks.
Sincerely, Nancee

if it was a one-time thing then don't worry about it.
