Msconfig ?? process config.sys and process autoexecbat
Hi,
I was just on with tech support and he had me go to msconfig and leave the dot in selective startup and uncheck process config.sys and autoexec.bat and also uncheck load start up group in the General page. Then he had me go to startup tab and only check scan registry and systray. This seemed to fix my problem but when I asked him about going back to what I had originally set he said it wasn't necessary to check process autoexec.bat and process config.sys - that I could just check things in the startup tab.
So I just wanted to check that it's not necessary to check autoexec.bat and config.sys. (I did notice that my InnoculateIT runs on startup anyway.) Also, I'm planning on installing Zone Alarm - does that need either of those items checked?
Thanks very much.
Sincerely, Nancee

Entries in config and autoexec are only needed for DOS,so it won't hurt to keep them unchecked.

Thanks Wonderinguy. Then I'll leave it alone.
Another question, if I ever have to use dos for anything (like scanreg /restore), or fdisk, etc. would I then have to put those checkmarks back in first?
Sincerely, Nancee
