mail error: tcp/ip connection was unexpectedly terminated

I am trying to help a user with his mail. They are sometimes able and sometimes unable to get their mail. They are able to send out of their domain because I received a message from him at my Yahoo account. Certain messages are getting out and some aren't. The only error message they get is, A tcp/ip connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.

I know a lot of people with that problem recently. All has been due to the server being up and down frequently. They can often still surf, but mail server is erratic.

Ok. I found the answer. Well sort of. This person has DSL but gets their email from a third party. So I told them to contact the DSL company (which is of course also the SMTP server administrator). Also, this person finally figured out it was attachments that where not going out everything else is working. So that's that.
