SMS messages
What ho one and all,
Pessimistically, I'm going to believe that there is no simple answer.....
I have a slightly older smartphone (Moto e7i Power) running Android 10 and 4G. Recently, I have not been receiving the eBay (or banking) SMS, 6 digit codes when at home, to input into the desktop sign-in verification. And if I try using eBay on the mobile, I am also not receiving the code.
My wife has a newer phone, but does not use eBay; however, if I send her a text or she sends me one, sometimes the reception is good, other times, it can take minutes or hours.
There is a chance my house is in a 4G shadow area but there was no issue with 3G reception. It is not the phone since when I go out, all the SMS codes will arrive, and frequently, they will arrive at home at 03:00 in the morning.
It's likely that newer phone (like my wife's) will not solve the issue since a poor reception area is a poor reception area. (I know the advice, move!!!)
My question: is there another way to log-on to eBay without having to receive an SMS code to my phone? I am trying to do so with Google, but that also sends an SMS that is not arriving (until (03:00)
Thanks

Not really an update but having posted, I tried eBay on my phone. Within 30 seconds, not only did the SMS code arrive but also all the others that I have been waiting for over the past three hours. Likewise, a test SMS to my wife, created two hours ago, was finally received.
The fact is, the phone and SMS message do come and go, just not within a reasonable time frame. Is there a way to make 'life' better?
Thanks

That sounds like a service provider issue. You may not have much of a choice of providers in your area, but you could check into what else is available.

Yes and no.
Seems that my house is in a bit of a shadow, plus, being a new house, we have triple glazing with what is know as low-e glass. This helps keep heat in and reflects sunlight in the summer to keep heat out. But the coating is some kinda metallic compound, so that somewhat reduces the mobile signal.
Then there is my phone. It is 4G and has VoLTE on, but apparently, does not have WiFi Calling. A combination of 4G, VoLTE and Wifi Calling means that SMS and mobile signals go via the internet rather than a mast.
My wife's phone has WiFi Calling enabled; however, my wife does not use eBay so has no need to receive an eBay code. the guy suggested that I swap SIM cards to see if the issue is my phone or SIM.
Now I am a 4G / VoLTE / Wifi Calling expert!!!!

You may have to go outside with your phone when you are expecting to receive a code transmission to improve your chances of actually receiving it. Be on the lookout for any deals on a phone with WiFi calling. Motorola phones are often available on sale, and have lower prices to start with also. Be sure to check the specs thoroughly when considering a new phone.
