That is only the output connector board. I doubt that would fix your issue. For a laptop, you would likely need a new motherboard. Unless it is under warranty, it probably isn't worth the cost to fix it.

Oops. I must have missed that last post. The audio/modem is built onto the motherboard from what I can tell. Probably not worth the time/money to replace it.
Another option would be a USB sound card. I'd have to look those up later, but maybe some other posters can make suggestions.
