ASUS P5Q SE/R powers off by itself

OK, replaced a dead 600W PSU with a brand new 500W PSU. The PC has a graphics card with 2 x DVI ports, but I don't currently have a monitor with a DVI port! So, install new PSU, powers on, great, I can hear beep code. After about 30+ seconds, PC powers itself off. Is this a BIOS setting? Flying blind here.

Could be a heat issue. Is the CPU fan running OK?

CPU fan running fine. I might take it off and give it a good clean.

edit: been running for over 10 minutes now. Didn't really do much to it.

Most video cards come with DVI to VGA adapters. Is this your computer or are you fixing it for someone else?

Someone's elses. I hit Function keys F1-F10 then enter after each and it "booted" (HDD LED going spastic), then I powered down, seems ok.

I figured since you didn't have the proper monitor/adapters. See if the owner has the adapters. They should have come with the video card.

It's obviously impossible to tell what's going on without a monitor but if you have speakers to hook up you should get the Windows startup sound when the boot routine is close to finished.. just a small clue as to what's happening (or not) until you get a monitor hooked up. Having said that, powering off the computer without doing a full and complete shutdown via the actual Windows shutdown routine isn't a particularly good thing to do esp repeatedly.
