"Not enough available disk space" for driver installation

I'm trying to install the drivers for a new Samsung M2825DW printer. They have installed successfully on several Win 7 64-bit machines and on one of my Win XP machines. But a second Win XP machine keeps giving the error

"Not enough available disk space. Please increase available disk space by about 300 MB and try again".

There is loads of disk space available, so I cannot understand what is causing this error and I don't know how to fix it. Have tried both the original (CD) driver and a fresh download version but with the same result.

    Any suggestions?

Run the built in disk clean up tool. Often times if you have TONS of files in Temp folders you'll see an error like this.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Been there, done that. And run CCleaner. No difference.

When you say Loads of disk space available - are you talking more than ten gigs?

Have you restricted the Virtual memory? That will bite us every time.

Checked that - problem still there.

This really has me baffled and frustrated (and annoyed). I have just successfully installed the drivers for a Canon printer on this PC, but it refuses to play with the Samsung ones. Yet the same Samsung drivers installed fine on another XP machine.

May need to check taskmanager and kill what ever is eating up all the memory. That and the virtual being to small gave me fits too.

    Train

I have tried Task Manager too - no joy there either. Even tried installing in Safe Mode without success.

But, with a bit of lateral thinking, I have come up with a workable solution. Instead of connecting the Samsung printer to the 'awkward' PC via wifi, which had been my intention, I tried connecting via USB ... hey presto, Windows installed a driver for the printer and I can now print from this PC!. I have had to swap the location of the Canon and Samsung printers in the office in order to achieve this, but this is no big deal. So all PCs now print via wifi to the Canon, and all but the 'awkward' one by wifi to the Samsung.

Sometimes we do have to use alternate methods. Glad you got it to work.
