At the top of the list, there is a drop down box for OS. Choose MS Windows XP. That will change the entire list to XP drivers.
These should be the XP drivers:
intel gma:

chipset:
https://www.dell.com/support/drivers...&categoryId=CS
audio:

managed to dl the intel gma driver. installed fine. no more headache from a stretched screen.
the other two i haven't gotten to yet. i'm trying to get as much critical "real" work done as i can not that i have most of my pc back (stilll installing software when in can).
i did instal firefox so at least now those pages look "normal".

installed the other two drivers with no problem.
i'm back to "normal" work while continuing to re-install non-critical software as time permits.
again, a big thanks to all of your for all of your help.
ps. my home pc finally bit the dust last friday. frosting on the cake for the week, i guess lol. i replaced it with an ibuypower machine running windows 8 which i have NO experience with. so you might see me in the windows 8 forums soon
