External hard drive format
Bought a 500 gig drive to back up my laptop. Now it shows only 73 gig...how can I get it to reformat back to the 500 gig? Toshiba laptop with Vista was used. Just had it back up my system, didn't do anything other then the basics it asked on the transfer. E.drive is a iMicro. Thanks

Formatting may not restore the extra disk space. Did you run the manufacturer's diagnostic on the drive yet?
From what I can tell, iMicro just makes external enclosures. What is the make/model of the drive inside the enclosure?

Ok. Download the Seatools diags. Run the extended test. It will take a while to complete.

What do you mean by "didn't get anything with it"?
What does the drive look like in Disk Management? Click Start - Run, Type diskmgmt.msc, hit Enter
A screenshot would help.

Glad you got it sorted. I would still run a diag. It's strange that the rest of the drive suddenly became unallocated.
