USB Card
My daughter has a 166 Pentiem with 32mb ram and Win98. Can I install a USB card so she can hook up a USB Digital camera to load pictures. I am buying the camera, or should I just buy a lesser model that will use the serial port, which her mouse uses?

Yes, you should be able to add a usb card. But be forewarned, loading from a digital camera is gonna be slow on that machine.

A memory upgrade (as troyz suggested) certainly wouldn't be a bad idea at all. But if you decide to go that route bear in mind that a machine of the age that runs a pentium 166 may well either be physically limited to accomodating no more than maybe 128 meg (which is fine), or possibly have a motherboard that will suffer in performance (due to caching limits) if more than 64 meg is put in. So check the documentation before simply buying memory.

Thanks Guys, I know memory is cheap (128 pin), but this old machine I think has 78 pin simms, I am going to dig around in my stuff, I think I have a couple 8mb sticks some where. Slow download from the camera and slow upload to send pictures the other Grandparents, may prompt the investment in a new PC.
Thanks Again!

One of my computers is a pentium 166 mhz
Quantex, In the past I installed a USB
card and installed a magicimage 400 digital
camera (still camera & web camera) to it. Have no problems using it with my slow computer. Took picture with the camera and
downloaded the pictures to a folder in the harddrive. System has 96mb of edo dram.
