What kind of ISP are you using? Cable? DSL?

Did you reboot your cable/DSL modem? Did you reboot the router? (make and models would help)

Did you check the Linksys router admin page to check the ISP connection?

My router and modem are all one thing. I've reset it three times. I can connect to it just can't get the inter net. I don't have a Linksys router. I get my internet through xfinity. I don't know the name or model.

    I don't have a Linksys router.
Then why did you say Linksys network?

I don't know the name or model.
Then we won't be able to tell you how to access the configuration page.

Did you contact xfinity to make sure everything is working on their end? They should also be able to remotely test your modem/router.

I'm guessing you're using a cellphone or something to post here.

If you don't have a Linksys router, then you're probably not connected to your network. Are you using a wired or wireless connection? If wireless, did you verify your network settings and/or did you try a wired connection?

First off, don't connect to your neighbor's routers without permission. That's also misleading to us because you don't have that hardware.

So you're saying that the laptop's wifi works. Fine. That means it's probably a configuration problem with the network settings and/or password.

Without more specs, it's hard to help you. You would need to look at your router/modem configuration or at least know how to do a factory reset and then redo the configuration.

    internet connection

I've been having this problem for a week now. I can connect to my network on my Toshiba satellite p105-s1647 but I can't access the internet. I can connect to an unsucured network and access the internet no problems. I have windows vista for an operating system. Anyone who knows how to fix this problem would be a great help. I've done a recovery twice thinking it would resolve the problem but it didn't. I've reset my home network device a billion times but it doesn't fix it.

Next time, keep answering your original thread.

Did you do a FACTORY RESET? That means you would have had to set up the SSID, encryption, password, etc.
