Defrag question
Under windows 7 hp,, do you have to have internet access to run defrag, or if it's set to run at a given time will it do it without connection?

You don't need Internet access to defrag. Why would you think that?
The Defrag service is scheduled in the Task Scheduler.
All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Task Scheduler
Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Defrag
You can either edit or delete the Scheduled Defrag job.

The system is set to run a set time, it says it has, when i did it yesterday after a disc cleanup, it showed items that were being arranged or the amount of, and was connected at the time, and being it is a msft product, just asked the question,
i used to do it myself , and walk away, it defrags quicker on the newer systems

And if you click "Analyze Now" before doing a DeFrag you will probably find that your hard drive does not need a Defragmentation.
