Resolved [RESOLVED] Transferring Files from PC(XP) To Laptop(Windows 7)

Having difficulty accomplishing this. Get Error Message saying they are not connected. Using Crossover Ethernet Transfer Cable via Easy Transfer for Windows 7. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

I had great luck coping from XP to Vista... Gave up trying to do XP to Win 7...

Guessing you've been prompted about updating the version of the software on XP.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Defective cable? Un plug and re-plug both ends of the cable a couple of times. Make sure they're fully seated. Try another cable.

Yes I got that message to update XP software and when I tried to update it refused to do it.

The cable that I have was just purchased yesterday and yes I tried rehooking them up several times to no avail.

This is beginning to irritate me.

Problem solved! Easy Transfer says there are three ways to transfer files. The first was with crossover cable, second network and crossover, and third external hard-drive.

I was using first choice that kept saying 'puters not connected.
I next chose the network choice--bingo! I transferred files with no problem after I inserted the key number.

    Thanks to all that responded.
