Delayed Typing in Email
Hopefully I have the correct forum...
My issue is that when I type in an email format (and in other areas of the web - some message boards, etc.) the typing is delayed. It can take up to 15-20 secondas for the text to appear after typing it.
No delay is apparent when typing in Word or other docs not on the net.
I have an old Dell unit operating on XP, w/DSL hookup. Problem has not always been there with current setup and hookup.
thanks

I use "C Cleaner" and "Temp File Cleaner" regularly after each session.

TFC I use and like.
Have you checked for virus and malware too?
Not often, but seen both cause problems.

Yes, I've been using SuperAnti-Spyware, Malwarebytes and Avira - although the Avira gives me a warning that it is out of date, whenever i click to update it does nothing.
Maybe something in Avira that is not right?

Yes there is, completely uninstall it, download new and reinstall.
After you get that straight, do a ESET online scan for a second opinion.

Train asks, "Have you cleaned out the temp folders lately?
Why, I wonder, doesn't XP do that clean out automatically? With all the sophisticated things XP does, why did the designers omit that function?

I have used the windows cleaning settings, but because of the several GB, I have found up to 6 GB, of stuff left behind. Guess what does a very poor job which will effect the speed and other operations eventually. So I use TFC to stop problems before they start.
With all the sophisticated things XP does, why did the designers omit that function?
Good question, they even did the same thing with Vista and Win 7,

Kinda depends on which temp files you're talking about. If it was say cache files, they're not automatically deleted so if/when your computer needs any of them, they're there ready for immediate access. (I.e., The computer doesn't have to download and/or recreate them all over again).

Turns out it was just the pop-up window that wouldn't connect to the Avira update. when I opened Avira and clicked on the update button it said everything was up to date.
Then, went to ESET, it found a Trojan, removed the trojan, re-booted and I'm good to go!
Thanks so much!
