    Driver for Panasonic NV-GS30 MiniDV

    I have a new PC running WIN 8 and I want to use it to do video editing. I need a drive for my Panasonic NV-GS30 MiniDV. I guess it does not need to be WIN 8 as I can run it in compatibility mode? I have search and the Panasonic site does not have it. Each site I visit that says they have this drive downloads a file called "Download_DriverDetective_8_2.exe" instead. Is this safe to run or does anyone know where I can get this driver from?

    I am connecting it via firewire. I have Pinnacle Studio version 9 and 14 and Windows Movie Maker installed. I have tried importing from the camera without the driver and it is not being recognised by the software, I also can not see the camera in the Device Manager. The firewire card is there though.

    Does the Panasonic site have Win 7 or Vista drivers? If so, try those.

    Hi Guys,

    No, unfortunately the Panasonic site does not have the drivers.

    Pages 34 and 35 of the maual I just downloaded refers to "Copying on a S-VHS (or a VHS) Cassette" and this would not give me as good quality, "Using the DV Cable for Recording" which is for DV to DV which is not applicable and ""Personal Computer Connection Kit" which is an instruction for still not movies and then refers you to the "Computer Connection Kit's operating instructions"and I can not find that online.
