I have 2 new different models Asus laptops and I know exactly how OP feels with the touchpad . I did the Fn + F9 keys which works on both my laptops .

Yes, "Fn + F9" works, even for the OP.

But, since they didn't want to do that every time they rebooted, they ask if there was "any way to disable permanently?"

To which I responded "disconnect the touchpad wires".
