Telnet Problem
I have been trying to practice using Telnet.
The Telnet client and Telnet server are both available in Windows 7.
I have installed and enabled both of them successfully.
I am able to start the Telnet client with the telnet command at the command prompt.
Just for practicing purposes, I want to connect to the Telnet server on my machine.
When I try I get the following message after putting in the command
Microsoft Telnet>open namecomputer
"connecting to namecomputer...could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"
Why can't I connect? Is it the Windows based Firewall?

Is it possible to use the client portion to contact the server portion on the same computer?

Never mind, I think I found the solution.
The telnet server service may need to be started with the following command from a command prompt:
net start telnet
I will try it again tomorrow and see if I can get a successful connection
